Forwarded pictures not showing in Windows Live Mail

I’m using windows live to download mail from my gmail account. Sometimes when I try to forward a message with embedded pictures, the message comes up that the pics can not be found and the recipient sees a grey box instead of the picture. If I forward the message directly from my gmail account, this doesn’t happen. Help tips from your site and across the web don’t address this problem with windows live. Is there are fix? thanks!

Hello Jeri!

In researching this problem, I found many posts, some ranging back in years, but no real good solution. It seems even Microsoft techs have not come up with a good answer. It could be an issue in the security settings in downloading email from Gmail to Live mail. It also appears that sometimes, it will put the images as a slide show, rather than embedded in the email, which if you are forwarding emails that have captions to the pictures, just doesn’t work. If the images are hosted on a web server, it’s possible that the link is not recognized when the message is downloaded or forwarded.

Unfortunately, I haven’t come across a good solution. Your best bet, if it is working to send directly from Gmail, is to just continue to send them that way.

    While not a solution to the problem, you can copy the images and paste them in a new email.

    Mmm… This is a vexatious problem that I too have been having for years, as Cynthia says. I tried some of the solutions on net, but they never worked. I even sought help from another reputed site, but the techie’s answer was evasive. This problem is in Yahoo Mails, and is worse in Hotmail.

    What’s interesting is that this problem is not consistent.For example, I used to forward mails with beautiful images to my own Hotmail Account.Many were received empty while some were intact, and some others were with one or two images out of many in the original.

      Sorry for the name goof up Audra.I wish that WorldStart gives the option to authors for correcting their posted mails, as provided by some sites.

    I have encountered the “one or more pictures…” missing popup message all too often (but not every time, strangely) when attempting to forward messages containing embedded imagery; especially when I have spent time cleaning up a received message’s truly bastardized format (e.g., multiple bars down left side, obvious [but invisible] table structures messing up content positioning, etc.).
    My solution – which is not elegant, but it works – is as follows:
    [1] halt the SEND process (in other words, answer NO to the “send anyway” question);
    [2] either save the outbound message (which puts it into the DRAFTS folder) that you are working on, or simply leave it open but unsent;
    [3] re-open (in a separate window, obviously) the original message that you received, and SAVE (viz., right-click & select “Save Picture As…”) each individual graphic, one-by-one (and this is the aggravating part of this whole process), to a location of your choice on your HD;
    [4] return to (or re-open from the DRAFTS folder) your want-to-send message;
    [5] “select” (left-click) each individual image (once again, one-by-one) in your “to-be-sent” message, click on the INSERT tab at the top left of your message window, select the “Single Photo” icon, navigate to the HD folder where you saved the original message’s images in step [3] above, select the “saved” version of the image that corresponds to he one you selected in your outbound message, press the OPEN button to replace the image that Live Mail “can’t find” with your copy of the original message’s image; and
    [6] finally (once step [5] has been done for each image in your message), hit the SEND button (or, under the OPTIONS tab, the “Send Later” icon). Your message should (will) be sent without further issues.
    Because of the time required to complete this clean-up procedure, it is very likely that only Type-A personalities (like me) will employ it (others will simply continue to gripe). But for those select few individuals, it does give satisfying results. If you’re up to it, give it a whack.
    I welcome any feedback or comments (especially if someone has a much more elegant solution, a true Microsoft UPDATE fix, or even a Registry Hack for this very vexing Live Mail anomaly). Happy emailing to one and all.

    I must be Type A…. Thanks for providing a solution to this MOST annoying problem. Sometimes, another solution works for viewing photos, which is just going to Control Functions / Programs / selecting Windows / Programs / Uninstall or Change / Windows Essentials 2012 / “Repair All Windows Live Essential Programs”….. but not always. Either way it helps to be Type A.
