Gas Prices

Friday, May 5th, 2006 by | Filed Under: Cool Sites

Gas Prices

I’m sure you’ve all heard the rumor that gas prices are going to be well over $3.00 a gallon by this summer. Yikes! With that kind of price, you have to shop around in your local area to find the best price, right? You can’t just settle for the highest.

While the Gas Buddy site is wonderful, it may not cover your surrounding area, so we’re bringing you an alternative way to find cheap gas prices in your city today.

How does it work? Well, it is really super simple. You just have to type in your zip code and click the Go button.

It will then bring up a map of that location with different gas stations marked on it. The cheapest gas will be marked with a green icon, the highest with a red icon and the rest will be marked with black circles.

If you scroll down past the map, you’ll get a listing of gas stations by price (lowest to highest) with the address of that gas station. If you click on the name of the gas station, the map automatically zooms in to show you where that gas station is located.

Another cool feature of this site is that it not only lists the price for regular gas, but you can also see the prices for Plus, Premium and Diesel gas. It not only shows you the lowest and highest price in town, but it also shows the average price around your town, so you have at least a ballpark estimate of what gas is going for around your area.

Still want more features? Well, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you can find out where gas is the cheapest in the U.S. and where it is the most expensive. You can also see the national average gas price for the U.S. While I was there, the average was $2.91.

I’m starting to think that it can’t hurt to have more than one site to check gas prices on. That way, you can really comparison shop and make sure you are getting the most gas for those hard earned dollars!…x?zip=&src=Netx
