Apple is calling its new iMac “colossal and ginormous.” This new all-in-one has some pretty cool options for your display. You can pick the 21.5 inch iMac with a Retina 4K display or the 27-inch model with a 5K display.
Apple says this new technology can display up to 25 percent more available colors.
The body is incredibly thin with the enclosure measuring less than 1/4 of an inch, and made with a seamless design.
While the folks at Apple seem most excited about the display, the inside of this machine is pretty impressive as well.
You can get up to a 4.0 GHz quad-core i7 processor with a 1867MHz memory.
Plus, the fusion drive offers up to 3TB of storage. This drive combines a standard hard drive with flash storage for a faster drive with more room that fits into the slim-line design.
Apple says the 2 new Thunderbolt 2 ports will give you data transfer speeds of up to 20Gbps – which is 4 times faster than USB 3 and 25 times faster than the old FireWire. In addition to the Thunderbolt 2 ports, the iMac offers, 4 USB 3 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet Port, an SDX card slot and a headphone jack.
New Wi-Fi tech also promises a much faster connection with double the bandwidth.
The 27-inch iMac starts at $1800, but could run much higher with premium processor and storage options. Not cheap, but these machines are productivity powerhouses, especially useful if you do graphic intensive work.
