Are you ready to take a virtual adventure to Mount Everest? I know I am! Let’s go!
When you arrive at the site, you’re presented with two major navigation options – Explore Everest and Rivers of Ice.
Explore Everest – this is the adventure we’ve come to participate in virtually. After the site loads, press the play button to begin the intro video (which was awesome and explains the journey and mission of the site) or use the arrows on the side of the page to navigate to the different sections:
Trek – you’ll arrive here after watching the video or after clicking the right arrow. This is where we’ll make our panoramic trek to Everest. It’s a trail map and if you click on the locations you’ll be whisked away to the location you selected. There you can explore it in all its panoramic glory!
Glaciers – this section lets you compare the photographs from 1921 versus photos from the 2000’s for yourself and see how the glaciers are vanishing over time.
Everest – here you’ll be navigating a topographical map of Everest, click the different locations to learn more about them and Everest.
Rivers of Everest is where you’ll explore information about the rivers of Everest disappearing. You’ll also learn about the people who live in the Himalaya’s and the glaciers themselves.
This is such a cool virtual experience! I hope you’ll check it out for yourself today!
