Gmail Keyboard Shortcuts

Nick from Westerville, OH asks:

Is there a list anywhere of all the keyboard shortcuts for Gmail?

Nick, thanks for the question. And, guess what? You asked this question just at the right time. Google just recently came out with the newest list of Gmail shortcuts. Gmail wants you to enable the keyboard shortcuts options before you can use them, though, and the following will show you how to do just that.

First, open up your Gmail. Look at your screen. At the very top right corner of your screen (below the toolbars, etc.), you will see your name and then a right afterwards. (I would have said that it was a flower or something like that but decided to show the picture due to the fact that it isn’t the technical term, and we wouldn’t want to mess with that. I digress.) Left click on the and a menu will drop down. You will see that there are two sets of Settings: Mail settings (which is at the very top of the drop-down menu), and Account settings. Left-click on Mail settings.

After you click on Mail settings, at the top (under the Gmail search bar), you will see Settings, and under that, you will see twelve clickable links that are displayed horizontally across the page. The first link is General, the second one is Labels, the third one is Accounts and Imports, and so on. Left-click on General. Look down the list to the third choice, which is (surprisingly enough) keyboard shortcuts. Click on the button next to Keyboard shortcuts on.

Now we just have to save our changes. Go all the way to the bottom center of your page and you will see two dialog boxes: Save Changes and Cancel. Left-click on Save Changes.

Now that you’re good to go, maybe some (or all) of the keyboard shortcuts below will be nice to use.

Does this tip require the Google Toolbar installed or will it work without it?
