So you’ve got a blog or website and you’ve decided to make the background image on your own but you’d like somewhere to start – then you’ve come to the right place. Here you can find free quality (and by that I mean amazing) background textures that you can use to create your own amazing graphics. All you need to do is provided credit back to the site.
While there are categories featured on the main page, as well as, six recently added textures, I recommend clicking the link 18 Categories. This will take you to the full category listing where you will find an astounding assortment of categories: Aircraft Aluminum, Asphalt, Brick, Concrete, Paper, Cardboard, Tombstones, Drains, Vents, and Grates – just to list a few.
When I was painting ink splatters I used the Spills and Splatters category to get an idea of how they looked, and to get a feel for the way the splatter effect would be shaped.
If you’re up for more of an adventure as you discover the textures here – I recommend checking out the Random option on the menu near the top. It will randomly select textures from their galleries and present them to you. I love this option! I like to use to get color inspirations.
Once you’ve found the texture you want, scroll down its page to the link: Download Full Size Image. Choose the Save option, and make sure you know where you are saving it to! I hate when I forget to note what folder I saved something to and have to search for it.
But don’t think all you can do with these is to create images! You could easily use these as a background for your desktop, or to serve as inspiration in art. I love to use this site to think of interesting textures to try adding to my sculpting, as well as, to get better at painting realistic wood grain. Let your imagination soar and run with it!
