Checking E-mail

If you're like me you can't wait to get your e-mail. As soon as someone sends it, you want to read it!

Automatically check e-mail

If you're using Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger, you can specify how often to check your server for mail. I have mine set to every 5 minutes, by default it's 20 (10 with Messenger).

Anyway, here's how to adjust these settings with both Outlook Express 5.5 and Netscape Messenger 6:

Outlook Express:

1. Go to the Tools menu, Options.

2. Make sure you are on the "General" tab and go to the "Send / Receive Messages" area to set your interval between checks.

Hit OK and you're all set.

Netscape Messenger (version 6 )

1. Click the Edit menu, "Mail / News account settings".

2. Click the "Server" item on the left. The resulting screen will let you set your interval between checks. I believe that, by default, it's off, so you'll have to enable it after you decide on your interval.
