So, I’ve seen a lot of different mediums of art in my day, but I have to admit, chewed gum art is a new one for me. This site is divided into sections and they are: Pictures, Articles, Media Clips, About and Artist’s Statements.
I started my visit off in the About section. It was there that I learned that this all started in 1998 and has drawn a lot of interest since then. In the Artist’s Statement section, you will learn more about the philosophy behind the art and the love of gum that is its driving force.
Pictures – This is, of course, where you get to see the art! I think my favorite one is of the feet and legs that are walking down the street and have stepped in gum. That’s just too funny not to like. Next to each piece of artwork, you will find the following information: title, dimensions, number of pieces of gum, date started and the date completed. If you click the image, you can see a larger version of the artwork. I was really amazed at how much detail there was in some of these.
Articles – Here you will find articles and interviews written about or with the artist, Jamie Marraccini. I found these to be interesting reads. They also gave me some real insight into the way the artist’s mind works and how he thinks.
Media Clips – In this section, you can download clips from the shows that have had Jamie Marraccini on them. You’ll find clips from HGTV, CNN and different news channels. The download instructions are right there for you on the page. I particularly liked the HGTV segment.
So, are you ready to start browsing these gum galleries? I know I’m ready for some more!
