I have my WiFi set up. I am trying to connect my tablet, and it has shown me the name of my router, but I keep getting a notification of an “authentication problem” when I try to connect. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Teresa, thanks for the question.
Whenever you get an authentication problem or error, it often (but not always!) means you have made an error in entering the security password.
Usually, when connecting with a device, you have the option to show the password when typing it in, as shown in the picture below. Just make sure there is a check mark in the box. (This isn’t recommended to do for all passwords, but as you are typing it in, it is very helpful.)
Remember also that passwords are case sensitive. Another thing to try is to tap “Forget network” and then restart your device. Then try to connect again, carefully entering the password.
If you have tried all this and are still unable to connect, if possible, I would suggest restarting your router and/or modem by unplugging it for 5 seconds and letting it restart, and attempt to connect again.
If this still doesn’t work, there may be another issue altogether causing the error, which would require more individualized troubleshooting.
