Yesterday, I told you about a Facebook support scam that a reader almost fell for when she couldn’t log into her Facebook account. Today, I thought I’d show you what you actually need to do if you can’t get into your account.Mau
Let’s start by going to www.facebook.com. If you aren’t logged in, you’ll see this screen.
In the upper right, you’ll see the fields for logging it. Just under that, in light blue type, is “Forgot account.” Click that.
You’ll be taken to a page where you can enter your e-mail, phone number (if you have one tied to your account), or full name. Enter the information and press Search.
From there, you’ll be offered the chance to reset your password via the e-mail account tied to the account or a text sent to a mobile phone that you’ve associated with the account.
Click continue and code will be sent to your email or phone allowing you to reset your password.
It’s very important that you keep your e-mail address and phone number current with your Facebook account. But if something happens and they aren’t up-to-date, you can click “No longer have access to these?” at the bottom of the window.
Then you can enter a new email and phone number.
This should get you on the road to logging back into your account.
