Help! I Deleted The Startup Folder

A reader found himself in a pickle after rearranging his startup folder:  “I was rearranging programs in my WIN 10 startup folder (shell:startup) and in the process of deleting programs I managed to delete the startup folder. Now nothing starts after booting the computer. Short of reinstalling the OS is there any way of getting the startup folder back?  BTW, I really enjoy your tips!”

Thanks for reading!  Let’s see if we can’t take care of this pretty quickly. First, we need to find your AppData file. Open File Explorer,  press the Alt key on your keyboard and select Tools at the top. Then choose Folder Options.

Select the View tab at the top and scroll down to  Show hidden files, folders, and Drives. Make sure to select that option and then click apply.

Open up your search box or search charm and type this:  %appdata%  Press enter or the search icon.

This will open.

Click New Folder and name it Startup (make sure to spell it exactly as shown)

  1. Keith Monson says:

Why not just go to the recycle bin, find the folder and choose “restore”?

  2. EZgoing says:

And a ‘normal’ person would know this HOW?? LOL Thanks Cynthia… If I ever need this one, I’ll know where to look (in your search box above)… LOL
