I heard from a reader who was getting slammed by e-mail notifications from a Facebook post. He wanted to know how to make them stop. There are two ways you can turn off notifications.
The first is to turn off notifications for only that post. To the far right of your post, you’ll see a little drop-down arrow.
Click it and choose Turn off notifications for this post from the drop-down menu.
You can also manage all of your e-mail notifications by clicking the arrow at the top of your Facebook page.
Choose Settings from the drop-down menu.
On the far-left side of the page that opens, click on Notifications.
Your Notifications Settings will display. Find Email and then click on Edit.
To turn off all notifications, except those relating to account security, choose “Only notifications about your account, security and privacy.”
If you still want email notifications for some things, you can scroll down a long list and choose what you wish to be notified about.
Personally, I prefer not to receive any e-mail notifications at all, with the exception of security notices. I view my notifications when I visit Facebook online or open my Facebook app on my phone.
