Hidden Yahoo! Emoticons

Do you use Yahoo!’s Messenger quite a bit to talk to your friends and family? When you’re in the middle of those conversations, do you like to stick in little emoticons when the mood hits you? I know I like to do that every once in awhile when I’m talking to my sister. They’re just fun little things that add a little spunk to the screen! Now, before I go any further, if you’re not sure what an emoticon is, read here [1] first. When you’re ready, continue on!

So, how would you like to have a few more smileys to choose from? Well, Yahoo! just recently added some “hidden” emoticons that can be used in Yahoo! Messenger. Of course, there already are several to choose from, but in my opinion, you can never have too many! Some of the new ones are a dog’s face, a star, a four leaf clover, a chatterbox, a dancing smiley, a monkey, a pumpkin, coffee, a cow, a flag and so many more. I’m telling you, they are so cool!

Now, these emoticons don’t show up in your messenger box like the other ones do. (Hence, the hidden part!) The only way you can get them into your conversation is if you type out their symbols. For example, the symbol for the dog’s face is :o3. The monkey’s symbol is :(l). The four leaf clover is %%-. These will only work with Yahoo!’s Messenger as well, which is why they’re not coming up here. You can get a complete list of all the new emoticons and their symbols here and you can start using them as you normally would today. Yes, this way may not be as convenient, but once you fall in love with these new emoticons, I think you’ll be using them all the time!
