Welcome to Historic Aerials!
When you arrive at the site, you’ll see a map with navigation options above it. Those options are Home, Discussions, Examples, Contact, and Account.
You can get started by typing in a location into the search box. I always search for the house I grew up in – a little duplex on the East Side of Lorain, Ohio.
When the location loads, you’ll notice that you can look at different decades by clicking the year on the left side of the map. You can zoom in and out with the + and -.
I think they went a little crazy with the watermarking, but I’m to upset since I can see what I need to without zooming in too much.
If you scroll past the map, you’ll find a list of newly added locations (and the year the image is from) and just beneath that you’ll find a really cool collection of photographs under Points of Interest. For example, you can check out aerial photographs of the white house as far back as 1949.
This is a cool way to view the past, go check it out today!
