Could you please suggest me any free application so I can convert any Word or Excel file to PDF format?
Standard text documents or spreadsheets, such as those created in Microsoft Word or Excel, aren’t always the best formats to use, especially if you don’t want files to be edited by other users or you want a file only for display purposes. While the Adobe Acrobat Reader program for viewing PDF files is free, unfortunately the Writer counterpart for making your own PDF’s is not.
But not to worry, you don’t actually have to lay down any cash to convert files over to PDF format. In fact, you don’t even need to download and install a separate program, as there are completely free conversion tools available online that are used directly through your Web browser.
To get started converting a document, head over to a PDF conversion website such as FreePDFConvert.com or WordToPDF.com . Click the “Choose File” button (or the equivalent option for whichever online tool you are using) near the top of the window.
Use the folder navigation panel at the left side of the window to access the folder containing your Word or Excel document. Click the name of the document you want to convert and then select “Open.”
Type the email address where you want a link to the converted PDF file to be sent into the text box at the center of the window. Leave the “Attach Files to Email” box blank if you just want a link sent, or instead click the box if you want the converted document to be sent to you directly. While this is a more convenient option, it may cause problems as your email client’s spam filter will likely prevent the message from getting through. Click the “Convert Your File” button to begin the conversion process.
Some PDF conversion sites also require you to verify that you aren’t actually a software program trying to automatically click links on the page. Simply type the listed phrase into the text box before clicking the “Convert” button.
Close the tab and then navigate to your email program and wait for the email message to be sent, which can take up to 10 minutes, depending on how large your Word or Excel document was before being converted. Open the new email message and then click the provided link.
Click the text link on the new web page to download a zip archive folder containing your newly converted PDF file. PDF conversion sites only keep your converted file for a limited amount of time to save space, so you may need to start the process over if you don’t get to the email containing the link within 24 hours.
Open the folder where your downloaded files are saved. Right-click the zip file and choose “Extract All” to extract your PDF file from the zip archive.
Double-click your new file as normal to open the converted PDF document.
