I cannot find a way to search within a folder in Gmail. Can that be done. I want to collect all mail from one person and then send them to a new folder.
As a longtime Outlook user, I am not crazy about the way search works in Gmail, but you can search folders. Click the folder you wish to search in on the left of your inbox.
Then click in the search box at the top of your inbox – you should see “label” followed by the name of the folder (called labels) in Gmail. Type the name you are searching for right after that and hit the little magnifying glass. Gmail will look for that person in the folder.

Once you find all of the e-mail from the sender, you can put a checkmark beside the messages and then click the drop-down label menu. You can either move all of the messages to an existing label or choose Create new to make a new label (folder) for the messages.
This should help you organize your e-mail.
