How Do I Update In Windows 10?

Updates are a bit different in Windows 10, and I.J. has a questions about them.  He writes: I have upgraded to windows 10 partly with the help of your newsletters. Thanks. In Win 7 it was very simple to go to updates and instal them. But in Win 10 there is no indication of where and how I can go to updates. Grateful if you help.

Updates are still actually pretty much in the same place. Just type Windows Updates into the search box and click on the results. But you’re going to see one HUGE difference in Window 10.

Security and bug fix updates are no longer optional.

They’re just going to happen in the background. If your PC needs to reboot after an update, you will be given the option to reboot now or wait until later.

This post helps to make the updating in Windows 10 so easy. Each steps are been presented so clearly with required illustrations. Thanks for the help.

If you hate auto updates, which I do, and MS’s continual intrusions into your life, I would guess you could block them by telling your firewall to block this traffic. Then, when you are ready to deal with MS, you would take the appropriate actions in your firewall program. Not sure about that, just speculating at this time. Most firewalls, of course, automatically configure themselves to your OS and programs, but the auto config can generally be overridden.

Nothing happened when I clicked on the results that came up.

I did not get the screen pictured. When I searched for “Windows Update”, I got “Windows Update settings” followed by “Advanced windows update options”. Neither one gave me the same screen as in the article.

PLEASE tell me how to set updates to download only during the hours where data usage is not used against me!! Today I was thrown way over expected usage…at this rate I will have to buy data before the month’s usage time is over. Thank you in advance!
