Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 by | Filed Under: Android

If you have noticed that your Android smartphone or tablet’s performance has been ‘slowing down’, particularly after you’ve been loading it up with tons of Android apps from the Google Play store (we don’t blame you!), we have a few tips for you that will definitely help solve this problem!

Don’t get worried or hurry up to toss the old phone and get a newer one. You should know that there are various ways you can improve your mobile device’s performance and overall speed, and if you apply these tips, your Android mobile device will run as smoothly as the first day you bought it!

We are all aware that the performance of our mobile devices starts to diminish after a while. Sometimes it takes you too long to switch through apps, you get annoyed by lagging apps or transitioning between screens is a nightmare, but fortunately, you can speed up your phone in minutes if you use our simple tips.

Smartphone Data Usage

In this article, we will give you 10 useful tips on how to increase the speed of your Android mobile devices and also, 6 power-boosting apps you can install and help your Android device perform better.

  1. Know the capabilities of your mobile device.

First, it is extremely important to know the potential and possible drawbacks of your phone. Don’t install apps which are going to overburden your phone’s performance. If you have a really old version of Android on your device, or if the device’s memory and processor are older, don’t install the latest apps on the market, because they will not work properly.

  1. Update your Android version.

A new update of your current Android version will most likely solve a great deal of speed and performance-related problems.

Android updates are usually focused on your phone higher performance speed and connectivity, plus on adding some new user-friendly features.

  1. Uninstall resource-hungry apps.

The more storage space is occupied by apps, the slower your smartphone will be. Don’t install apps you don’t really need.

  1. Disable apps you don’t use.

When disabling apps, these won’t appear anymore on the home screen or app tray. You can re-enable them whenever you need them, without uninstalling anything. Another option is to completely remove them from your device. If you are confident that you will no longer need them, you can just simply uninstall them.

  1. Update apps.

Regularly update your apps when updates are available on Google Play. If you update them, your apps will perform better and your phone will work faster.

  1. Use a memory card.

Mobile devices with low internal memory can be upgraded with memory cards.

You can get between 2GB to 32GB worth of extra storage space.

  1. Keep fewer widgets.

Unlike apps, widgets are always running in the background. They can be useful but keep in mind that having too many of them running on your home screen will slow down your device’s performance.

  1. Try to avoid live wallpapers.

Android’s live wallpaper feature is amazing, but it will need more CPU cycles to run and it will drain the battery faster. Use static wallpapers instead.

  1. Stop using auto-syncing.

Sync is a very useful feature which synchronizes your data with Google servers but updating you e-mail app every 5 minutes can also drain your phone. Alternatively, you can auto-sync your email and social media apps, just once or twice a day.

  1. Turn off animations.

Check if animations are turned on. They most likely are. Turn them off for better performance.

If you follow the suggestions above, your Android will certainly work faster and smoother. But what about some apps for boosting the mobile device’s performance and also its Internet speed? Despite the availability of 3G and 4G technologies, which allow us to have Internet wherever we are, having some apps in charge of boosting your mobile device and getting a faster Internet connection, will surely help!

Tomorrow, in part 2 of our series, we’ll look at some helpful apps that can help speed up your device.
