Hulu Explained

JoAnn from Tyler, MN writes:

My new Windows 7 PC came with “Hulu”. What is it supposed to be?

Hi JoAnn, and thanks for the great question. Many people noticed Hulu on their new Windows 7 computers also and wondered what it was. It is actually a great piece of software that allows you to watch TV shows and movies online.

It’s true you can also download TV shows and movies using a P2P service, (like BitTorrent) but it is very illegal to do it this way. Hulu offers a way for you to watch your favorite television shows and movies without any legal or copyright issues.

There are many movies and television shows available too. You can find popular television shows from the major TV networks such as NBC, MGM, Sony, and Fox and movies from most of the major studios, as well.

Hulu is especially great if you have a television series you have always wanted to watch but have fallen behind in. No problem! Find it on Hulu, and watch it from the beginning to catch up.

The best thing about Hulu is there is no software to download on your computer, because everything you watch is online. As long as you have Flash player installed on your computer you can view any television show or movie that you want… completely free! The video opens in a pop-up window and then you can watch it in full-screen if you desire.

Hulu Plus

Hulu Plus, on the other hand, is a subscription service that allows you to watch your favorite television shows and movies on devices, such as smart televisions, mobile phones, tablets, and gaming consoles for a fee of $7.99 per month. Give it a try if you’re looking for a more mobile platform to watch on, or want to take advantage of that expensive Smart TV you just bought!

Hope this answers your question, JoAnn!
