Carl wrote to us with some Internet connection issues. He says, “I am using Century Link as my internet provider with W7 IE11. I can access the internet with my laptop with the connected router. However, I can not access the internet with my desktop. Can you please help me?”
First of all, does your desktop PC have wireless? If it doesn’t have a wireless card, you’ll have to plug it directly into your router. Search Device Manager in the start menu and click on the result. Now look to see if you have a wireless card or wireless adapter.
If you don’t, you need to get a wireless adapter. If you have wireless capability, you should be able to click on the WiFi icon on the lower right of your taskbar and see available networks.
If you see your router, but just can’t access it, you may be missing drivers (Check manufacturer’s website). If you try to log on and get an authentication error, you’re entering the password incorrectly. There’s also the possibility that your router signal is not reaching your PC and you may need an adapter with an antenna.
