Windows loves to tout all the things it can do, and we, as consumers, love to point out all the things it can’t. Well, here’s a little “can’t” Easter Egg to try out:
Right-click on your desktop and click New>Folder to create a new folder. Now, right-click on it and go to Rename.
Try to rename the new folder CON. You can’t!
Some versions of Windows just default back to New Folder, while others give you an error message, like this:
The reason for this is that CON is actually a reserved name (a holdover from DOS, to be specific). Other Bozo no-no’s are PRN, AUX, NUL, LPT1 and COM1 amongst others.
