Where are the menu, command, and status bars located in IE 11 with windows 8.1?
IE 11, like the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox has moved the functions from the command, status and menu bars over to a menu button. If you are using the desktop version of IE 11 , select the gear in the upper-right corner.
You’ll see the full list of menu options. Selecting an option with an arrow next it will also give you a drop-down menu with more options.
If you are using the Metro or App version, select the icon that look like a wrench at the bottom right of the page.
Just tap or click on the wrench…
and you’ll see a menu of options.
As I said before, it’s not just Internet Explorer with a design change. All of the major browsers are moving options out of site onto a menu button. Part of it is that a cleaner look is favored now and also because the developers want their browser to work the same across all devices. They need to come up with a menu system that works on the monitor for a PC, but also with a small screen on a smartphone.
This same design is also found on IE 11 on a Windows 7 system as well.
