If you’ve never been to an IKEA store or seen their website; then let me tell you, they sell affordable furniture target towards people who are starting out in their first home or apartment. They have everything you need to setup house: countertops, kitchen gear, beds, lights, etc. What the IKEA hacker site does is allow people to share the inventive ways they’ve used their purchases from IKEA to decorate their home.
I was blown away by some of the things that people have made out of things from IKEA. One of my favorite entries is a pair of guitars someone made from countertops they found in the Scratch and Dents section of the store.
The categories of hacks are: accessories, audio visual, bathroom, bedroom, children, craft, dining, fabrics, furniture, gift, holiday, kitchen, lighting, living room, media storage, miscellaneous, outdoor, pet furniture, seating, shelving, storage, wall décor, wardrobe, and work station.
