Bob has a question about iTunes. “How long will iPhone 4 be around? Not sure if I understand what iTunes is about. I downloaded an app (Zedge ringtones) from iTunes (after setting up an account).First sync the iPhone & computer. I had to download iTunes onto my desktop computer, then transfer the ringtones from the iPhone to the computer. Every ringtone I transferred over to the computer, it would put into a different folder. Now it wants me to transfer the ringtones from the computer back to the iPhone. Seems confusing and a waste of time. Is there a simpler way to do this? New to Apple & iPhone – not sure if I like them or not.v Thanks for your help.”
The iPhone 4 is an older model of iPhone, the current model is the iPhone 6. But I’d expect Apple to support the iPhone 4 for some time yet.
iTunes is an online store where you can purchase music, apps and other material from Apple, and it’s also the name of the program that allows your phone or tablet to communicate with your PC or Mac computer. You can use it to organize music and videos on your PC and also to do a backup of your iPhone or iPad.
As an Android user, I’m just a little appalled at how much work it is to customize a ringtone on an iPhone. It’s nearly impossible without having to involve your computer. Frankly, for the time and effort it takes, you’re better off just using the ringtones that Apple offers or buying one from the App store on your phone. Just search “ringtones” or the name of a song you’d like to use with “ringtones” after it.
Apple made the decision to make their iPhones simpler by not allowing very many customization options. Trying to fight that can be a lot of work.
