I can’t believe this site exists or that it is so phenomenally put together! Join me at Implosion World, a site that brings you “the explosive demolition industry’s worldwide source for news and information on building implosions, blowdowns and all other types of structural blasting projects.”
Here you can find the sections Recent Projects, Photo Gallery, Blasts from the Past, Implosion LIVE, and World Records. Then in the Entertaining and Educational area you can find the sections Industry History, Cinema Explosif’, I Was There, Did you Know, and TV & Exhibitions.
“Recent Projects” is a great place to start. Here you’ll find photos of the most recent demolitions. This is great section to see the variety of explosive demolition. From there I would recommend the “Photo Gallery”, so that you can check the demolitions by category and see some really neat pictures. There are a lot of different types of buildings that get scheduled for demolition—everything from houses to hospitals to towers. Check all of them out in the Photo Gallery where you will get great highlights for each section.
“Blasts from the Past” is an archive of the most interesting and challenging demolitions from the past and is definitely worth a visit. Not only are they great articles, but you can experience demolitions from all over the world.
If you have Real Player you are going to want to check out “Implosion LIVE”, and if you don’t have it you may want to get it. Here you can watch video feed of actual demolitions. From smokestacks to stadiums to bridges—they are all different and actually quite neat to watch.
Next head right to “World Records” and see what the records are for demolitions and just what kinds of categories there are for demolition records.
You can check out more clips in the “Cinema Implosif”. Scroll over the image and it will tell you what the clip is about. If you want to watch it, just click on the image and it loads the clip for your viewing pleasure.
The “Did You Know?” section was very good—full of interesting facts that otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to guess at. Did you know that it makes a difference whether the building has steel or concrete support columns? I sure didn’t, but now I do. You can find more of this kind of trivia and facts in this informative section.
Why don’t you explore the rest of this site on your own, you never know what kind of goodies you’ll find. It’ll blow your mind!
