Windows Is Free – But Not Everywhere

Microsoft is shaking up it’s business model by offering Windows for free on devices smaller than 9 inches. That means makers of smaller tablets and phones can install it on the devices without paying a license fee.

The company hopes to make up the money lost in licensing fees with sales of apps and other services. Microsoft feels that users of these devices are much more likely to buy apps and services than users of traditional PCs.

Many have speculated that Microsoft might also adopt that model for the desktop and laptop PC market, but there’s no sign of that happening any time soon.

Mozilla CEO Steps Down Over Gay Marriage Backlash

Brendan Eich, the CEO of Mozilla, the company behind popular Internet browser Firefox stepped down after a backlash over a donation he made six years ago in support of California’s ballot initiative banning gay marriage.

Eich had previously issued  statement that he was committed to insuring the company included and supported all employees regardless of sexual orientation. But Mozilla later apologized for not acting more quickly.

“We know why people are hurt and angry, and they are right: it’s because we haven’t stayed true to ourselves.”

 Kodak Introduces Photo Book App

Film and camera company Kodak was hit hard by the rise of digital photography, but as the company emerges from bankruptcy, it’s trying to get back onto the game with a new app called Kodak Moments for ipad.

The drag and drop app allows users to create photo books and order prints. The finished products can be picked up later in the day at Target stores .

I am appalled that Mozilla bowed to pressure and fired the individual for expressing his personal belief. How intolerant are we?
