Fall Windows 10 Update Lets Edge Pin Websites

The coming Creators Update To Windows 10 features a brand new look for the Action Center as well as the ability to pin favorite websites to the taskbar in Microsoft Edge.

The pinning feature was one that a lot of users requested. True to its word that it would continually take user input and make changes to Windows 10, Microsoft will be adding the pinned sites feature to Edge when the update rolls out this fall.  Edge will also have a new Full-Screen mode.

Hacking Insurance

With companies still tallying up the damage from the recent WannaCry Ransomware epidemic, more and more companies are turning to cybercrime insurance.

Experts are estimating that by 2025, customers will be paying out $20 billion dollars in premiums. And it’s not just companies, more and more individuals are looking into policies to protect their own data. With more and more smart devices becoming part of the home, the potential for being hacked is rising. Some companies like HSB are now offering cyber-protection for individuals. You’ll have to check with your insurance company to see if they offer coverage.

Microsoft: Windows 10 S Ransomware Proof

Microsoft says the big selling point of it’s new Windows 10 S operating system is that it is practically ransomware proof.

Users can only install programs from the Windows App store.  The company even went as far as saying that no known ransomware works against Windows 10 S.  This could be a big selling point for companies and government agencies who have been hit hard by ransomware attacks. Though it does limit what types of software the devices can run.

Sorry to do this Cynthia,(I really enjoy reading your helpful articals)but I gotta call out microsoft on that statment “practically ransomware proof”. I myself work on computers and I’ve had over a dozen systems infected with ransomware and thats just since the new creaters update come outa month or so ago. “Users can only install programs from the Windows App store.” nope wrong again, you can install any program from anywhere at any time. I only say this cause some people think this is true and don’t wont to go to windows 10 becuase of it.

Windows 10 S is not the same as Windows 10 or Windows 10 with the Creator’s Update. It’s a locked-down system that does not permite you install app from anywhere but the Windows app store.
