The pilots should be seriously reprimanded for such a stupid mistake, resulting in passenger delays, frustrations, and very bad press.
As a retired airline mechanic, EVERYONE in the industry knows the window seal is between the glass and the structure. The edge gap is filled with silicone sealer, and often duct taped to shorted cure time. All the gap sealer could be blown out and it would have no effect on the glass or the actual window seal.
Every pilot I’ve ever known in 35 years in the business knows this method.

This has left me speechless (which seldom happens) and unable to lift my chin off the floor! WHAT could they have been thinking to use Duct Tape on an airplane? Whomever gave the okay for the use of this should be on the curb looking for a new job!
