Companies Add Free Cloud Storage With Subscriptions

Subscribers To Microsoft’s Office 365 and Amazon’s Prime video and music streaming service are getting more storage space. Unlimited storage space, in fact. Microsoft is offering unlimited OneDrive cloud storage for Office 365 subscribers.

Amazon will now allow users to store unlimited photos in the cloud. Previously the unlimited storage only applied to photos taken with a Kindle Fire.

The storage boost from Office comes as the company makes mobile Office apps available for free. Previously, you needed an Office 365 subscription to edit and compose new documents with the apps.

WireLurker Targets Apple Devices

A new malware threat called WireLurker is targeting Apple devices. The malware stays hidden until the device connects with a Mac computer and then hops onto the computer via the USB connection.

Apple says it has managed to neutralize the threat by blocking the infected apps. This bug got into iOS devices from third-party app stores and shows that Apple devices are vulnerable to malware threats just like Windows and Android operating systems.

Whether you are using Apple or Android devices, you’re much safer using the official app store for the device.

Showtime Adds Service For Cord Cutters.

Showtime is joining HBO by offering an Internet-only subscription for viewers without cable or satellite services.  Viewers who pay for the channel as part of a cable or satellite package can currently watch programming on line, but this is the first time the service has been offered to Internet only subscribers.

The service is expected to be available in 2015.
