Google combines cloud storage space.

Google has consolidated its free cloud storage space limits for Gmail, Drive and Google + Photos. Previously you were allowed 10GB of storage for messages and attachments, and 5 GB for photos and documents. Now users will have 15GB available of common storage to share between those applications.

Microsoft comments on “extreme” Windows 8 criticism

Frank X. Shaw, the VP for Corporate Communications at Microsoft is asking Windows 8 critics to back off what he calls “stark black and white caricatures” and “sensationalism” when it comes to reporting on Windows 8.

He points out that Windows 8 has sold 100 million copies so far and that just because the company is listening to customer feedback and working on improving the product, doesn’t make the release a disaster.

Shaw wrote on the Microsoft Blog, “Windows 8 is a good product, and it’s getting better every day. Unlike a can of soda, a computer operating system offers different experiences to different customers to meet different needs, while still moving the entire industry toward an exciting future of touch, mobility, and seamless, cross-device experiences.”

Regal Cinemas offers closed caption glasses

Regal Cinemas is outfitting nearly 6,000 theaters with special closed caption glasses that will allow hearing-impaired movie goers to privately view captions on new releases.

The lightweight glasses are manufactured by Sony and will put a closed caption text directly into the line of sight of the viewer for both 2D and 3D movies.  It’s part of the Sony Entertainment Access System that also allows patrons with visual impairment to privately listen to visual descriptions of films.

The Sony Entertainment Access System will be available at the Guest Services Counter or from managers. The showtimes for films offering the service will have the note: Accessibility Devices Available.
