Cheaper iPad Mini?

Citi Research told investors in a report that Apple is making the move towards less expensive products. The report said to expect a low-end iPhone and an iPad Mini that would cost less that $250.  In the past, Apple has focused on high-end merchandise and left the low-cost market to Android.

Congress Demands Google Glass Privacy Answers

Eight members of the Congressional Bi-Partisan Privacy Caucus sent a letter to Google CEO Larry Page with a long list of questions about Google Glass. The letter pointed out that Google had had spurred multiple privacy investigations around the world by collecting data from unencrypted wireless networks in 2010 and made a $7 million settlement with 38 states.

Among the questions:

  • What steps is Google taking to protect privacy of non- Google Glass users?
  • Does Google Glass use facial recognition technology to reveal personal information about whomever the user is looking at?
  • What limits would the company place on Google Glass apps to protect the privacy of individuals?
  • What data is Google collecting from the glasses and what to they plan to do with it?

If You Don’t Have Something Nice To Say, Facebook Wants Your Real Name.

Social media giant Facebook has a new rule that could require the creator of any humor that the company deems insensitive or cruel to include his or her real identity if they wish the post to stay up on Facebook.

It’s all part of the company’s adjustment of its “Hate Speech” policy to focus on content that they say  “targets women with images and content that threatens or incites gender-based violence or hate. “
