Yesterday I told you about SnapChat. The standout feature of SnapChat has always been that the posts are temporary and disappear within a few seconds of being viewed. Popular photo social media platform Instagram took a direct run at SnapChat by introducing its own Stories feature. Instagram Stories stay up for 24 hours before they disappear.
Just as with SnapChat, users can share photos or videos. And you can add effects, stickers, and write on the screen.
You’ll see the Stories displayed at the top of your Instagram Feed. Swipe left to see all of them.
Tap on a story to view the photo or video.
To add your own story, tap on Your Story.
At the bottom of the screen, you’ll find the controls for choosing how you want to use Stories. You can choose to go live with your video or just take a photo or video. You can also use the Boomerang function to create 1-second GIF-like Videos. Press the large round button once quickly for a photo or hold down to take a video.
Once you take a photo or record a video, you can write or draw on the screen. Select drawing tools at the top and the color at the bottom. When you’re happy with the results, tap Done.
or add text.
Then you can either send the image to one or more friends privately or post on your story feed.
