Internet Explorer 7 RC1

Q:
Awhile back, you talked about the beta version of Internet Explorer 7, but I haven’t heard much since then. What’s the up and coming news on this?

A:
That’s a very good question! I’m sure several of you have been wondering about this very same thing, haven’t you? Maybe some of you tried the different beta versions Microsoft offered and even though you’ve been using it for some time now, you may still not know what the latest news is on it. Well, I’m here to inform you about that, so read on!

The newest version of IE is called Internet Explorer 7 Release Candidate 1 (RC1). It was just recently released for public availability and it seems to be going pretty well. Now, don’t be confused. This isn’t the final release of IE 7. All of the beta versions and so on up to this point have just been Microsoft’s way of improving the final program. With the RC1, they are hoping that Web developers, enthusiasts and IT professionals will finish up their testing and prepare their environments for the final release of IE 7.

Microsoft said that they are confident that with the help from the above mentioned, Web sites and applications will be updated and fully compatible with the new version. Some of the improvements that are supposed to come along with IE 7 are better performance, stability, security and more application compatibility. There have also been changes in the user interface, some CSS platform changes and there has been increased language support. For example, RC1 is available in English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Finnish, German and Japanese.

Also, if you’ve been using the other beta versions of IE 7, don’t worry about uninstalling those. RC1 has an automatic uninstall feature for any prior versions. This is just another thing Microsoft included in order to have easier installation of the final version. One more thing! If you’re worried about getting updates with IE 7, don’t sweat it! As soon as the final version is released, there will be high priority updates thanks to the already functioning Automatic Updates feature.

If all of this sounds good to you and you’re ready to move on up in the IE 7 world, you can download the RC1 here. It’s available for all Windows XP SP2, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and Windows Server 2003 users. You’re also encouraged to leave your feedback so Mircrosoft can continue to build the best Internet Explorer for you.

The final version of Internet Explorer 7 is scheduled for release later this year, so get ready!
