iPod Week – Day 4
You’ve probably heard the saying that the kind of music someone listens to can tell a lot about them. And that’s why sharing music is so fun! You get to learn about other peoples’ interests and find people who like the same music as you. Well, today, I’m going to show you a revolutionary way to share music with your friends on the computer. Trust me, you’re in for a good one!
How would you like to be able to access your friends and family’s iTunes library, even though they are miles and miles away? Well, the program I’m going to show you, called Mojo, makes it so simple to do. So, without further ado, let’s get our Mojo on!
1.) Mojo is a program that is meant to be used between two or more computers. To demonstrate, I will be using my Windows Vista (Computer 1) and Windows XP (Computer 2) computers. You can use whatever you have on hand.
2.) To get started on Computer 1, head on over to this Web site.
Select the Windows XP/Vista installation file and download it.
3.) When you first open the installation file, you may be prompted to install some additional software, such as .NET Framework or Bonjour so that Mojo will work properly. Those are safe, so go ahead and install them and then just follow the on screen instructions to install Mojo.
4.) If you encounter any security alerts regarding Mojo or Bonjour, you can just click on Allow.
5.) After the installation has finished, open the Mojo program and you’ll see a welcome screen. Select Next.
6.) You now need to create an account so that you can find other Mojo users and other users can find you. Enter in a username and password and click on Register, then Done.
7.) In the Control Panel, you can see where your computer is listed.
Now, let’s try and add some other computers or buddies to your list.
8.) On Computer 2 or your friend’s computer, you can download Mojo again.
9.) Once again, you need to create an account, but with a different username and password. You’ll then see your Computer 2 listed in the Control Panel. Then you can add Computer 1 as a buddy.
10.) Click on the + (plus) button at the bottom of the window and a dialogue box will appear. Enter in Computer 1’s username and it will be added to your Buddy List.
11.) If you go ahead and click on your buddy’s name, this dialogue box will appear on your friend’s computer:
12.) When they press Accept, you will have instant access to your friend’s songs. Once again, double click on your friend’s name.
13.) Presto! An iTunes window that contains all of your friend’s songs will open. But wait, it gets even better. Double click on a song and it will begin to play!
14.) Now, highlight a song and click on the Download button. Within seconds, it will be transferred to your iTunes library.
How cool is this program?! Wouldn’t you like to hear what new songs your friends have that you don’t? Well, now you can and it’s so easy and fast! You can even download playlists, movies and podcasts.
Before I let you go, I just have one more thing to tell you. Mojo is a beta program and it has a few bugs, such as difficulty between operating systems and platforms. However, Mojo is continually striving to fix those problems, so you shouldn’t have any trouble. I’ll see you right back here tomorrow for the last day of iPod Week. Enjoy!
