Is Frog TV Legit?

Saturday, May 20th, 2017 by | Filed Under: TV Tech

A reader has a question about a device that promises premium streaming services for free. “Have you heard of this device called TV Frog? I’m sending a description of it and would like to know what you think of it and if it’s legit.”

Here’s the pitch the reader directed me to:

Never Pay For Cable Or Subscriptions Again? This Device Allows You To Watch Anything For Free With over 1.5 million units sold worldwide.  Thankfully, there is a solution to legally watch anything for free! A Netherland-based startup company has come up with a new innovative and inexpensive gadget that is changing the way people consume media. What is it? It\’s called TVFrog. It is a state-of-the-art Home Theater box that can be easily connected to any TV. It comes with everything already installed and is up and running within minutes. No technical know-how needed. It is an all-in-one entertainment center that allows you to get rid of all your other hardware and remotes. All the apps we know are already pre-installed like you might know it from products like AppleTV, Amazon Firestick etc. But there is a main difference – it allows you to watch anything for free. With no subscriptions and completely legal. What sounds to be to good to be true is reality, no strings attached. That\’s one reason why TVFrog is selling globally like crazy at the moment. Of course you need to have internet and that is a few bucks a month. TVFrog is on sale at the moment for under $70! One time payment – no subscription, no monthly costs. Where can I buy one? You can buy it directly from the company\’s website by clicking here. NOTE: As it might get banned soon, people started to buy multiple devices at once as they want to resell them at a higher price later. So demand is crazy right now.

The whole pitch is much longer, but it strongly implies that you’ll be able to get Netflix and other paid services for free once the box is installed.

Sounds too good to be true? Well, it is. First and foremost any device that offers to give you Premium services like Netflix or HBO is up to no good. It is always illegal to use these services without paying for them. Even if they are somehow routed through a country that doesn’t have laws about pirating videos, when you consume it on your end, you are breaking the law. So that just means they won’t get in trouble, but you will.  Legality aside – it’s stealing. It’s just like you walked into the Walmart, stuck a DVD in your pocket and walked out. Whether or not the security system went off has no bearing on the fact that you are a thief.

TVFrog is not exactly a scam. It’s just a regular old streaming box like a Roku and works much in the way that all streaming boxes and streaming sticks do. You’ll have access to apps that allow you to stream programs. Some apps like PlutoTV do offer free programs. Others, like Netflix charge a fee. You can get the Netflix app for free, but you still have to pay if you want to use the programming.  Same for HBO or any other Premium services. TVFrog isn’t a big bargain. It’s 80 bucks for one unit. That’s on par with Roku and other streaming boxes. You can get Roku and Amazon sticks with remotes for around $40.

Bottom line:  FrogTV is a legitimate streaming box, but it won’t give you paid services for free.

Mary: You’d have to check with the return policy for that particular company. There should be some type of customer service contact infor on their website or included with your package.
