That's what's on my XP eMachine I've had for 7 years. I immediately removed Norton & McAfee from it when it was new. [With an attendant LARGE increase in speed ! ] Also, I have NO windows updates installed, and DO NOT allow Microsoft in to my computer. The only Service Pack is SP2 which came on the machine 7 years ago. I have NO problems. No crashes, no BSOD et al. I HAVE taken time to delete and turn off all PHONE HOME programs - like ALL DRM files, remote access services & files - from Billy and the Redmond gang, + others. No one believes this, but it's TRUE !

The best antivirus I know of is NONE.
That’s what’s on my XP eMachine I’ve had for 7 years.
I immediately removed Norton & McAfee from it when it was new.
[With an attendant LARGE increase in speed ! ]
Also, I have NO windows updates installed, and DO NOT allow Microsoft in to my computer.
The only Service Pack is SP2 which came on the machine 7 years ago.
I have NO problems.
No crashes, no BSOD et al.
I HAVE taken time to delete and turn off all PHONE HOME programs – like ALL DRM files, remote access services & files – from Billy and the Redmond gang, + others.

No one believes this, but it’s TRUE !

By: Scott Lewis

I have to agree with Billy Greene...I am an ESET NOD32 fan. It is fast and works great too. It works at the machine level and is very effective. Another great thing is that it does not bog your system down while doing a scan. I can run a full scan while surfing the internet.Scott

I have to agree with Billy Greene…I am an ESET NOD32 fan. It is fast and works great too. I paid for McAffee and had trouble with a virus, did a scan (which said nothing was found! I had to take my computer to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and they had to delete everything and there WAS a virus! I paid a lot of money for NOTHING - no help at all. I heard about Microsoft Essentials by a friend, downloaded it for NOTHING and it has been doing a supurb job! I will NEVER renew McAffee and chalk it up to money wasted on that "virus protection".

NO! When i was in school there was no such thing as personal computers so when i purchased my first computer I was so lost but thanks to you all i have a lot of ppl asking me for advise especially about ainti virius protection. I`ve always thought the paid version were much better and i intend to print this tip and put it up on the bulletine board at work for all my co worker to see. So in my view this gets 2 thumbs up...Keep the great work and thaking you for all the help you`ve provided in the past and in the future

I`ve been a paid subscriber as long as you`ve offered premium newsletters and i think this new version you have come up with is an excellent idea. I have had Avast Free for years. I am a senior citizen and don't use my computer as much as some do. It has been good as far as I know. I do have online banking so wonder if I should get a better one.

Thanks for this info. I have had Avast Free for years.
