I have an LG Smart TV, but entering text with the remote is awful. We have an Android tablet and a Windows 7 laptop. Is there a way to use either of those or some other keyboard to access the internet?

Bob, depending on your TV and your tablet, one option for you could be the LG TV Remote app [1] from the Google Play Store.

The app works with LG Smart TVs from 2012 or later. There’s also an LG TV Remote 2011 app that you can check out for earlier models.

The app has a lot of features. There’s a MiniTV that will let you watch live channels on your tablet on many mobile devices. Plus hot keys for volume/channel control and your input and channel lists.

The touch pad lets control the screen pointer and SmartText makes it easier to input text.  You can also do screen captures.

In 2013 TV models you also have unified search and easy social media sharing. Your TV and your tablet will need to be on the same wireless network.

User reviews are overwhelmingly positive for this app, and since it’s free – you really don’t have anything to lose by trying it out.
