Is Windows 7 Support Ending?

Your article said that Windows 7 is still the most popular operating system. Then what was all that buzz about Microsoft not supporting Windows 7 anymore? Or was that just XP? All this tech crap gets us older people confused.

John, Microsoft still supports Windows 7. Support for XP ended in April of 2014.  Support for Windows 7 will continue until January of 2020.  Currently, Microsoft offers support for operating systems for 10 years from the time they are made available to the general public.  XP support was extended three years beyond that time.

Windows Vista will be supported until April of 2017 and the end date for Windows 8 support is January of 2023.

Microsoft will end Mainstream support for 7 in 2015 – that means it won’t develop any new products for 7 or make changes in style or features to 7. Security and bug-fix support will continue until 2020.

Hey John stop generalizing. I am old, 61, and will retire in 5 months+ and this tech crap doesn’t get me confused, to me it is fun. It isn’t about being old it is about what you are familiar with. Lawyer crap now that gets me confused, but then I am not a trained lawyer while I am a trained tech person.

Even though Microsoft stops supporting an operating system, are there any third party sites out there that offer assistance when an issue develops?
