We have XP our computer. If we have no confidential info online are we still going to be at risk after April?
Microsoft is ending security and bug fix support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014.
Obviously no one can get information from your computer that isn’t on your computer. By no confidential information, do you mean that you’ve never used your computer to make an online purchase or to fill out any government or insurance forms and never received an eMail with account information? Because if someone were to use malware to take control of your computer, they could be able to see everything you do.
Also if your computer were to become infected, you could put everyone on your contact lists at risk because a virus could send spam to their computer and attempt to trick them into opening an e-mail from you that could infect their computer with a virus.
And even if you don’t have any confidential information, a virus could still wreck your computer and cause you to lose all of your data.
