Yesterday I purchased an Apple IMac desk top computer. It’s a really big change from Windows 7. The salesperson showed me some things, but today I’m finding I can’t get out of certain websites – like the Slingo game I play. I don’t see a home button to go to. Can you help me figure this out please?
Switching from a Windows PC to a Mac can be a great experience but it can also be very frustrating. One possible cause of websites not working on a Mac is by default Mac does not include Adobe Flash Player which is required by a lot of websites but is known to cause some system instability. I would recommended downloading it at http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html and installing it to see if that fixes your problem.
Another thing you can do which is popular with some Mac users is to use Bootcamp. Bootcamp is a utility built into Mac which allows you to install a full copy of Microsoft Windows on your Mac computer. You do need to purchase a copy of windows (I would recommend getting it from NewEgg here ) but once you put the install disc into your Mac and run bootcamp it will guide you through setting up windows on the Mac. Next time you start your mac you will be able to hold down the Option key and select if you want to boot into MacOS or into Windows. Apple has a fantastic guide on using bootcamp available at: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
One final option is to buy a program called Parallels for the Mac which lets you run a windowed version of Windows inside of MacOS. This is the most expensive option since you need to both purchase Parallels and a copy of Windows but it does have the very neat feature of being able to have MacOS open while at the same time have a “window” of microsoft windows open for all your programs needing microsoft windows.
