Many of you have probably already taken care of this, but for those of you who haven’t heard about it, let me fill you in. Recently, a new update for Java was released and it is ready for install as soon as you get a chance. You probably started seeing the “Java Update Available” message pop up in your taskbar around the second week of January or so. The Java updates are just there to help keep your computer up to date with all of the Java releases. They are also there to help keep your PC secure and safe whenever you use a Java application.
To get the update, all you have to do is click on the popup message that you see on your desktop and hit the Download button. Once it is ready, another popup balloon will appear. Click on that again and then click on the Install button. You will then see an install wizard box and your install will be on its way. When it’s done, just click the Finish button and your new Java update will be all ready for you.
Now, if you didn’t know about this update and you would like the Java updates to run automatically from now on, you can change your settings so that will happen. To do this, go to Start, Control Panel (make sure you’re in the classic view) and double click on the Java icon. Once there, choose the Update tab and check the box that says “Check for Updates Automatically.” You can even set your own update times by clicking on the Advanced button. When you’re done, click OK. It’s as easy as that to stay Java safe!
