I was lured to this site through one of the food blogs I read regularly. The blog touted this site’s recipe for homemade ice cream without an ice cream maker, and I was intrigued. I adore – love – worship – ice cream. It is my favorite dessert, a trait inherited from my mother, who inherited it from her dad. I have an ice cream machine, but it is a pain to use and I have to wait forever to eat the fruits of my labor.
You can find the recipe to make this ice cream here. I chose to make the Nutella Peanut Butter Chip recipe. It was divine! So smooth and creamy, and when it starts to melt a little it gets a mousse like texture that is still a real treat. I, personally, would leave out the peanut butter chips next time, because they were hard to chew and took away from the joy of eating the ice cream.
I will be making this again, and I will be trying other flavors. I’d like to figure out how to do a mint chocolate chip for my roommate. This would also be a great way to make ice cream pie! You could just make up the filling and put it in your cookie, or graham cracker crust – no need to thaw a container of ice
cream and refreeze it.
I can’t wait to try the Cheeseburger Flatbread Melts that are currently on the main page. But that will have to wait till our next grocery trip since we already bought our supplies for this pay period.
