Kodable is a free app through the iTunes store that teaches kids to code through gaming. Their theory is to teach it before and along with learning to read so that it becomes a language that sticks with them throughout life. It’s tuned for ages 5 and up.
When you arrive at the site, you can scroll down the page to learn what the game is about and how it works. It’s setup for self-directed learning with progress results you can track. If you look at the top of the page, you’ll find Why Kodable?, Classrooms, Schools, Pricing, Resources, and Blog.
The Why Kodable? section covers what they’ll learn, how they’ll learn it, and what results are expected. Classrooms covers what’s available for teachers (free) and their classrooms (a monthly fee), as well as entire schools (also for a fee).
Resources has a lot of great handouts, image packs, infographics, a video, and presentations that you can download!
Overall this looks like a great way to get kids interested in coding! Go check it out today!
