Lead Free Kids
I watch a lot of investigation television. One night there were back to back episodes of investigations into suspected lead poisonings. There were kids eating lead paint chips and it was just awful, but it got me to thinking about the fact that I live in a house that is over 100 years old, and that it’s likely that we have lead paint underneath the more recent paint jobs, or in our basement. So I got to wondering if there were safe ways to go about renovation when we get to that point, and I found this site in my search.
Not only does this site promote lead poisoning awareness, but if offers information for home restoration whether you are doing it yourself or hiring a contractor to do it for you.
When you arrive at the site, you can choose to navigate by selecting what you are from the menu. Are you a: parent, educator or childcare giver, pregnant woman, medical professional, renovator or contractor, property manager or landlord, do-it-yourselfer, home buyer, or a renter? Each of those leads to a section with more information for where you’re at in life.
You can also use the navigation strip at the top of the page for more information from the sections: Facts about Lead, Prevention, Local Lead Resources, Materials and Downloads. I suggest everyone at least check out the sections Facts about Lead and Prevention.
If you want to find a lead poisoning testing center in your local area, or lead safe trained renovators – just type in your zip code in the search on the right side of the page.
