MS Office 2007 & 2010: Let the Program Bring the Templates to You
At one time or another, we’ve all found ourselves searching online for just the right template to do the job we need.
Even using the Microsoft templates site, which is quite organized and easy to use, can be tedious and frustrating, as you try search after search after search.
Well, the good news is that with these newer versions of the MS Office suite, you can have the templates brought to you… already organized and easy to view.
If you’ve ever gone on a template search, you know the frustration of the search. I know that you’re interested in seeing what the new Office has to offer, so let’s get right to it.
We need to start in the Office Button / File tab.
Once there choose New.
When the New dialog box opens, you’ll be looking at something like this in Office 2007
and something like this in Office 2010:
Both have a section that refers to Microsoft online or microsoft.com.
In these sections, you’ll see a variety of template categories that are appropriate for the program you’re using.
When you browse through them, previews will be displayed just like they are online.
Click the Download button when you’ve found what you like.
That’s it… no need to search the Microsoft site any longer.
Does this replace non-Microsoft template sites?
No, but it does put a whole lot of templates for the correct program, and sorted by subject, instantly at your fingertips.
Give it a try – you may be pleasantly surprised at what you find available without ever opening a browser.
