More Opera Tricks

Q:
Last week sometime, I believe you did a tip on some Opera tricks and you said that you might put some more in the newsletter in the near future. But I haven’t seen any more since. So, do you have any new tricks we Opera users should know about?!

A:
You are absolutely right. I did say that in the last Opera tip I wrote (which you can read here if you missed it the first time). Now, I have to be honest, I wasn’t planning on putting more Opera tricks in the newsletter for at least a couple more days, but I’ve gotten so many e-mails about it, I just had to do it sooner. If there’s a big demand for it from all you wonderful readers, the last thing I want to do is let you down! Alright, so here we go. More of the Opera Web browser is coming your way!

Mouse Gestures

Want to navigate through your Opera Web browser a little quicker? Then let your mouse lead the way! With Mouse Gestures, you can browse back and forth between Web pages, open and close windows, click on links and so much more. For example, to go back to a previous Web page, hold down the right button on your mouse while you move it to the left. And just do the opposite to go forward a page. How cool is that?!

Save Sessions

How many Web sites do you visit on a daily basis? If you’re like me, you probably go to more sites in a day than you’d ever want to admit to and honestly, that’s okay! In Opera, you can use that to your advantage with Save Sessions. If you’re browsing the Web and you have a lot of different pages open at the same time that you’d like to save for later use, you can save them all as a collection. You can then go back to them at a later time and all of the same material will come back up for you. You can even do this in the middle of another session. It’s just a great way to get everything you need all at the same time. To save a session, go to File, Sessions and then click on Save This Session. Easy as pie!

Zoom

If you sometimes have trouble seeing the material on a Web page, you can use Opera’s Zoom feature to zoom in on it. With it, you can magnify pages up to 1,000 percent (wow!) or even shrink them down to 20 percent. To use the zoom, just use the + (plus) and - (minus) keys on your keyboard. That’s all you have to do to enjoy your Web experience that much more!

The Wand

Opera has its very own password manager and it just so happens to be called The Wand. With it, you don’t have to worry about remembering your usernames or passwords, because The Wand does it all for you. If you just log in manually to a Web page once, The Wand will take over and remember your information for the next time you visit the same site. You can do this for any of the Web sites you visit on a regular basis. It’s the easiest way to keep your data password protected! To use The Wand, just click on the Wand button within Opera or you can press Ctrl + Enter to automatically fill out the form you need or to log in to a site. Awesome!

Security Bar

Alright, this is the last one I have for you, so I hope you enjoy it! When you’re using your Opera Web browser, you’ll probably notice a small, yellow security bar pop up every once in awhile. It shows up when you’re visiting secure sites. The Security Bar will display the name of the organization that owns the certificate for the site you’re on. It will also tell you the level of security for the site you’re visiting. You can even click on the Security Bar to learn more about what the site does to keep you secure. How handy is that?!

Well, there you go. More tricks of the Opera trade, as promised. If you’re an avid Opera user, I know you’re just going to love all of these features. I mean, come on, they are just too good to pass up. Check them all out for yourself today!
