Mouseless Smart Tags

Do you find yourself frequently using Office XP’s smart tags? You know, the little icons that appear in files when the program is offering paste options, or when the AutoCorrect feature started making changes?

If you’ve got them and you use them, you know what I’m talking about.

Anyway, the real question is: “Do you use them less often than you’d like because you need to use the mouse to access the options”?

Well, then I’ve got just the thing you need. How about access to the smart tag options without the mouse?

Yeah! I thought you’d like that idea.

First, you have to put the cursor into the data (word) with the smart tag. (If a whole icon doesn’t appear, then a small blue rectangle will indicate the smart tag’s presence).

Now try Alt + Shift + F10.

Instantly the menu of options that the smart tag is offering opens.

With the arrow keys, scroll through the options and hit the Enter key to make your selection.

Yep, that’s all there is to it. Mouseless smart tags attained with one simple key combination.
