MS PowerPoint: Saving Placeholders as Pictures

Friday, June 17th, 2011 by | Filed Under: MS Office Help, MS PowerPoint

Sometimes you’ve got a placeholder in your presentation that contains a SmartArt, table, text or whatever that you want to use elsewhere.

The problem is that when you copy then paste the item it shows up in the other program a total mess!

It’s also possible that something in that presentation needs to be shared with others but you want to keep the current formatting without actually sending out a presentation file.

Regardless of why you need it, you only want what’s in that single placeholder and you don’t need to edit it again.

In those circumstances you could do a print screen, paste it into a program then crop and format it so that you have a picture of the information to include where it’s needed.

Or… you could just save the placeholder as a picture from the very beginning and bypass all that other stuff.

Yeah, I vote for the second option as well – so let’s take a look at what it entails.

First thing you’ll need to do is to select the placeholder. Be sure that you do not have the cursor inside the placeholder for editing, you need to placeholder itself selected.

Now right-click on it.

You’ll find on the menu that opens the choice to “Save as Picture“.

From there it’s smooth sailing – name it, select a file type from those available and choose a location for the file.

That’s it – easy peasy!
