Museum of Me

Do you use Facebook? If so, I have a nifty treat for you. Intel brings you the Museum of Me – an interesting way to explore the archive of your online social life. I found this via my brother, who develops apps like this for a living, and since he was so impressed with it – I decided I’d give it a try too.
It takes advantage of the F-Connect feature of Facebook, so to get started click the Connect to Facebook button. If you leave your account logged into Facebook (I do) it will start gathering information right away; if you log out though, you will need to log in when it provides you with the Facebook Log In prompt. After it gathers data, you’ll be able to explore the exhibit about you! And don’t worry about your personal information, this site does not store any of it. After you watch and if you decide to share it with your friends on Facebook
The exhibit is divided up into Friends, Photos, Location, Words, Links, Videos, and the Conclusion. I’ll walk you through each section.
Friends – here you will see the Facebook Icons of your top seven friends.
Photos – here you will see a collage of the photos that you’ve posted on Facebook.
Location – they will display a satellite view of your location in three images, each getting closer to where you actually are!
Words – this is MY FAVORITE section! When it gathers data it goes through all your statuses and figures out which word you use the most! My word boiled down to be stitch! Considering how much I love to crochet and that I’m learning knitting I think that is awesome. You can see my result here. (That link will take you to the album that the Museum of Me creates if you decide to share it with your friends via Facebook.)
Links – here they will display a collection of links that you’ve posted.
Videos – her they will display a collection of videos that you’ve posted or liked.
The Conclusion – this is my second favorite part. You’ll see floating images of all your Facebook friends, as well as some awesome robots collecting them to build something. But what are those robots building? They’re building your current profile picture out of all your friend’s profile pictures! It’s awesome! After that it starts zooming out and shows the interconnectivity of your circles of friends.
While you go through the exhibit there is music by Takagi Masakatsu playing. You can turn this off by clicking the little speaker in the bottom right corner of the page.
When it is finished it gives you the option to Share yourself on Facebook. If you click that it will post a link to this site, so that your friends can make their own Museum of Me, and it will create a photo album so that you can share your exhibit with your friends. If you don’t want to share this then all you have to do is close out of the page.
I am geeky enough to find this ridiculously awesome, and I hope you will too!
