The first email I read on Monday morning was this one: “No question. Just want to thank Cynthia for all her hard work on getting us good info on Windows 10. I took the plunge a few weeks ago and it was a non-event. Everything went smoothly – it feels like Windows 7 but looks a little different is all. Hubby was so impressed that he upgraded too the next day and is usually loathe to upgrade. :)”
Thank you so very much. Most of the time I hear from people only when they’re having problems. That was pretty much my general option of Windows 10 as well. It does feel very much like Windows 7 to me as well.
I didn’t really have any issues upgrading. I was surprised that my husband had zero as well and he was updating an eight-year-old laptop. But no upgrade problems and no issues so far.
My number one tip for those who are a little dazed by their new operating system is: When in doubt, always go to the search box.
Just click the Windows icon on the lower left side.
Need to find a program? Just type the name in and then click on the result.
Need to find a setting? Just ask. Setting options will always have a gear in the results.
Tap the result and it will take you to the place to check on the setting.
Need a document? Just type the name.
Or type Documents to be taken to the document folder.
The same is true for pictures.
Want to find an app in the Windows store? Type it in.
You’d be surprised at how quickly you can find what you’re looking for.
